Website re-design for Gaia Servadio

Website re design for Gaia Servadio picture

Gaia Servadio is an Italian writer, broadcaster and historian who I have worked with a couple of times over the past few years making amendments to the content on her website.

When Gaia contacted me again a few months ago I suggested that it would be beneficial to have a re-design of her website as it was very basic, uninspiring and difficult to navigate which was doing nothing for her work. In order to keep the costs down for Gaia, as I was more interested in her having a decent website that would encourage users to visit and view it, I suggested using WordPress and a free or low cost pre-designed theme (I normally create bespoke sites) for the new website and Gaia agreed so the work went ahead.

I looked around and decided to use the Memoir Theme by Elegant Themes as not only was the theme name appropriate :-) I felt the design suited Gaia’s work and site content. It was then just a case of tweaking the CSS and some of the layout options (which the theme options made pretty easy for me) and re-structuring the site content and navigation and the site was live.

There are still a few tweaks and additions that I think the site will benefit from but so far Gaia seems to be very happy with her new site.

Simplycious Web Design and Development Blog

I have finally bitten the bullet and decided I need to get my blog up and running even though my website is still in development as I have many things I want to say (I have chosen this Designpile template by Site5.com as a temporary theme before I can integrate into my new site deign so don’t be surprised if it suddenly changes). Whether it be news from the web design and development industry, advice to businesses about their website, social media and online marketing or tutorials for new website designers and developers.

Obviously, this being a brand new blog, the content will initially be sparse as I was torn between writing a number of articles and tutorials before putting it live or getting it live first and then adding as I go. As you can see I decided on the latter in the hope that it will prompt me to get my backside in gear and actually get writing and posting. I do hope that you will find my articles and tutorials interesting and useful in the long run, but you will have to keep an eye on here to find out.
